A New Master Plan!

Hi,

Yep. I've decided to set myself some long term goals in the game. I like goals, and like it when everything I do in the game is contributing to those goals.

With that in mind, I want to set goals for leveling, gearing, professions, achievements, and gold. So, I had 12 level 90s at the start of WoD (well, 11 + 1 boosted). So I'll concentrate on those. That's 120 levels to be gained in Draenor. For Gearing, lets set a goal of getting them all to 640. Let's take the base as 600, so that's 480 gear levels to gain. Also, let's make sure to have 3 totally upgraded crafting pieces per character. That's 108 levels for Crafting Gear (one for the item, and 2 for upgrades. 3 pieces each). For Profs, lets set a goal of two maxed Professions per character. That's 100 levels for each prof, and thus 2400 prof levels to gain (even if they started from 1, I'll still only count 600-700). Also, Flaying should get max Arch, Fishing, Cooking, and First Aid. That's 400 levels to get. For Achievements, lets set the goal to be 10,000. Also, lets say 100 Guild Achievement points. I only have 60 currently. For gold, why don't we go for Max. That's 1M gold on Flaying.

What I'll do each week is to tally up how I'm doing against all these. Then I'll average it all out and have a grand total (weighting each of the 8 categories equally).

Currently:

Leveling: 82/120 => 68.33%
Gearing: 125/480 => 26.04%
Crafted Gear:36/108 => 33.33%
Professions: 1999/2400 => 83.29%
Secondary Profs: 238/400 => 59.5%
Achievements: 6310/10000 => 63.1%
Guild Achievements: 60/100 => 60%
Gold: 277.231/1,000,000 => 27.72%

Total overall Completion: 52.66%

Not bad :)

Well, I did get FengSui to level 100:

Fengsui at 100
I also started leveling Boomy as my next 100. She's now in Spires of Arak. I chose here because she's accumulated so many level 100 pieces of gear from follower missions, and really needs to be able to open them up.

Also, Pally reached GR cap, and I needed to have something to spend them on. So I leveled her up to 96 for the Garden. She's still at cap though :)

I also got Stealthy into Draenor and got her far enough to get the professions moving, and to get a level 2 Garrison.

Flaying, Gnomey, and Fengsui all did LFR, and all my 100s leveled some old raids (Firelands and Bastion of Twilight at least) for some extra gold. Also, making sure to get level 3 Salvage Yards on all of them. BTW: I made a guide about making money, over at wowhead:

http://www.wowhead.com/guide=2915/making-money-with-alts-in-wod

Oh yeah, I also made sure to keep my level 3 Barns filled up for chances of Savage Blood on Flaying, Gnomey, and Fengsui. Draeny will come later once I gear her up a bit.

Other than this, Trap did get some play before I decided on the new master plan. I won't be touching my less than 90 characters for quite a while now. I don't mind at all, as I hate CRZ.

The plan for next week is to work on the Master Plan. Leveling, Gearing, Making Gold, Achievements, and professions. It will be nice to concentrate on Draenor.

Cheers.

Happy MLK Day!

Hi,

Yep, we've got the day off here, so some playing time and reflecting on the Civil Rights movement.

A lot has happened this week. The main thing being the massive amount of gold I've been bringing in. I didn't know how much gold I had last week until I checked my blog. I said I had just over 172K. Well, guess what......now it's up to over 244K. That's 72K in a week. Awesome. I sold lots of 640 gear and 630 weapons, sold lots of potions and flasks, sold a couple of Hexweave bags, sold lots of mats from the Mine and Garden, and soloed lots of old Raids.

Here's the proof, in Flaying's bags:

Flaying's bags
You can critique the stuff in there, but the main point of interest in the 244,695 gold :)

I said that Fliction wasn't good at soloing Raids, but I got the advice off the forums to try Destruction instead of my normal affliction. It is much better. Even though Rain of Fire is pretty week, at least it tags all the mobs so that she can loot them all. Not too bad single target either.

I did level Fengsui as my latest char to level to 100, although I only got her to 97. She's now hit Spires of Arak, and I hope to get her to 100 soon. It's going to be awesome to trap Elite mobs for chances at savage blood. Flaying has been doing that, a few mornings during the week, and manages OK, but has about half heath after a trap and needs to heal.

I want to get Gnomey and Draeny doing that too, but they need to gear up a bit first. Gnomey hit all 3 wings of LFR, and got a couple of upgrades. I really haven't done the Apexis daily on any of them, but I know I should, if I want to gear them up.

Speaking of gearing up, now that I have amassed a fortune, I am stopping crafting gear to sell on the AH, and am switching back to making upgrades for my own character's gear (even though they'd sell on the AH for like 25K!!).

Several mornings, I've played Trapbrit, and she's made it to level 28. A Hunter with Heirlooms just breezes trough the content. She's just about to hit Northern Stranglehorn.

Oh yeah, I did push Stealthy through the Draenor starting experience to get her to a Garrison too. So now all my 90+s are in Draenor.

Achievements have made it up to 6230 this week, with the last two being Savagely Epic (Flaying got a crafted hood to make all pieces 640+), and Filling up the Barn (25 Mounts).

The plan for next week is to no concentrate on gold so much. Craft lots of upgrades and gear my 100s up, do trapping for Savage Blood, level Fengsui to 100, and probably level Trap and maybe Priesty and Frosty.

Cheers.

Opinion Time is Going Away

Hi,

Special Blog post.

I started Opinion Time in an effort to foster some discussion about the topic in the comments section of the blog post. However, this was a dismal failure, as no one has commented on any of them.

So, I will not be doing any more Opinion Times, just recounting my adventures within the game.

Cheers.

Four Level 100s!

Hi,

Yep, I got Fliction to 100 yesterday. She was finishing up Spires of Arak, and then did a bit of Nagrand to get to 100. She already had about 4 pieces of 615/630 gear waiting for her, getting her to 610 immediately.

Fliction will now be soloing old raids, and started off with Firelands. Boy, the lack of AOE is so annoying. She does really well on the bosses and single targets, but multiple mobs are a real pain. I think my next 100 will have to be a class that has good AOE (like my Priests and Shaman). So, I decided that my next 100 will be my Hunter, so I started leveling her again.

I also got Blizzy to 96 for the Herb Garden, level 2 Gem Boutique, and thus the JC daily. The first one got me about 208 gold, for 120 Ore. Not bad, as on the AH, I could only get less than 100 gold for 120 ore.

So, my roster now looks like this:

Chars on Draenor
With soloing old Raids, and siphoning all gold over 10K from other characters to Flaying, and selling another Hexweave Bag for 4K, and tons of Ore and Herbs, Flaying has now got over 172K. Flaying is also creating Greater Draenic Intellect Flasks, and selling those to make a good bit of gold.

Flaying also did all 3 wings of LFR and got Imperator down on the first attempt. That was a fun fight.

In the mornings, I've switched from leveling Priesty and Trap to sending Flaying into Nagrand to trap Elite River Beasts. Here's the scoop. I have made nearly every single 640 crafted armor and 630 crafted weapon I need for all my characters. So I really need to make all the upgrades that require 15 Savage Blood each. With all the Primal Spirits I'm getting, I only get about 1 each 3 days, so I need another source. Trapping the River Beasts for work orders is really good. From the about 8 WOs I've completed so far, I have 3 more Savage Blood. I will continue to make sure Flaying's Barn WOs are full up moving forward. That's another reason to level Fengsui to 100. Get her Barn up and running and it will be way easier to trap on the Hunter.

With all the mats I have for crafting, I'll probably make some 640 and 630 stuff to sell on the AH, but I don't expect them to sell for much.

Alliance (Brits United) on Draenor:

Flayingbrit (100) - Human/Priest (Herbalism 700/Alchemy 700) - iLvl 642
Draenybrit (100) - Draenei/Shaman (Mining 700/Blacksmithing 700)
- iLvl 620
Gnomeybrit (100) - Gnome/Priest (Tailoring 700/Enchanting 661) - iLvl 613
Flictionbrit (100) - Gnome/Warlock (Mining 700/Engineering 715)
- iLvl 610
Fengsuibrit (94) - Pandaren/Hunter (Skinning 671/Leatherworking 700)
Blizzybrit (96) - Draenei/Mage (Mining 700/Jewelcrafting 710)

Pallybrit (93) - Human/Paladin (Blacksmithing 342/Tailoring 665)
Bamboodbrit (92) - Pandaren/Priest (Herbalism 642/Alchemy 673)
Priestybrit (61) - Draenei/Priest (None)
Raidbrit (10) - Doesn't matter (2nd account)

Alliance (Brits United) on Echo Isles:

Shaolinbrit (92) - Pandaren/Monk (Mining 683/Jewelcrafting 614)
Slealthybrit (90) - Pandaren/Rogue (Skinning 600/Leatherworking 600)

Frostybrit (70) - Draenei/Death Knight (None)
Trapbrit (19) - Draenei/Hunter (None)

Priestybrit (43) - Undead/Priest (Tailoring 176/Enchanting 196)
Elfybrit (3) - Blood Elf/Priest (None)
Shammybrit (14) - Orc/Shaman (Mining 21/Herbalism 25)

Achievements made it up to 6060 this week, with the last two being Heroic: Fall fo the Lich King (Now doing ICC on 10H) and Trap Superstar (from all the Trap Work Orders):

Achievements

The plan for next week is more of the same (making gold, crafting, etc.) and then making inroads into leveling Fengsui to 100. I don't know if I'll be doing any lower level character leveling, but I'll get to that eventually.

Opinion Time: The New WoW

Well, at max level, anyway. I'm finding that I'm spending time totally differently from any other WoW expansion. It was always about doing dailies while in a queue for Heroic Dungeons, to get something that could get you good gear (Valor etc.). You'd also be out in the World, gathering mats for crafting. I must admit that Sunsong Ranch was similar to what we do in Garrisons, but really, what I do in WoW these days is totally different.

Now, it's all about gearing up from your Follower Missions, doing the one daily if you feel like it for Apexis. Doing all your profession stuff and gathering at your Garrison, and hardly needing to go out in the World (except for Trapping). It really feels very different. With so many characters, it takes me so long to do all that, that I have barely any time for anything else.

So, is this a good or bad thing? I quite like the change actually. People are screaming about it on the forums, but I like the change of pace, because it really suits my playstyle. You know I don't mind doing stuff on my own, or doing the same stuff over and over, so this change really seems targeted at players like me.

Cheers.

Happy New Year!

Hi,

Happy New Year everyone!! Here's to a very productive year in WoW for you all.

In the game, I got my third level 100. Gnomey made it to 100. She moved on to Nagrand soon after reaching 98, and got to 100 fairly quick. I now have 3 characters that I solo old Raids with. I solo:

Firelands
Bastion of Twilight
Blackrock Descent
Icecrown Citadel
Tournament of Champions

on each character.

I could probably do some in 25 or 10 (H), but I do them all on basic 10-man, for the speed of the runs. Last week, I got a bit greedy going for achievements on Flaying, and tried to do Firelands 10 (H). She got a few of the bosses down, but got owned really bad on Shannox. Those dogs....grrr. It's not much fun when you're stunned repeatedly until death.

Anyway, with the solo Raids, siphoning excess (over 10K) gold from alts to Flaying, selling another Hexweave bag, and selling all the ore and herbs, Flaying is now over 150K gold.

I need to get more characters to 100 :)

I also did quite a bit of unintentional leveling last week. That is, leveling up due to mining in the garrison, or from XP got from Follower missions. I would be doing something and BAM - level up. LOL. This happened to Fliction, Boomy, Blizzy, and Fengsui.

As Fliction got to 97, I decided to push on with her, targeting her as my next 100. She's now in Spires of Arak, leveling up nicely.

Draeny got to 615 iLevel and did the first wing of LFR. Unfortunately, they were already on the Butcher. 2 bosses, no loot :( I may see if I can do the 2nd wing on her tonight. Flaying did both wings, and Gnomey isn't at 615 yet.

Also, I leveled up Shaolin to 92, to get the level 2 Garrison, and start on her JC daily stuff.

Other than my high level characters, I put a bit of time into Priesty and Trap, in the mornings. Priesty got to level 60 and is now in Outland. Trap got to level 17 and is in Redridge Mountains.

Ahhh....Outland

Alliance (Brits United) on Draenor:

Flayingbrit (100) - Human/Priest (Herbalism 700/Alchemy 700) - iLvl 637

Achievements have gone up to 6030, with the last two being Parasite Evening (from Blackrock Descent) and Upper Back Pain (from Tournament of Champions).

The plan for next week is to get Fliction to 100. Also to do LFR on the characters that are able, solo old Raids, and level up Priesty, Frosty, and Trap.

Opinion Time: WoW 10th Anniversary

Well, what a total let down. OK, we get a pet in the mail, and we got a Raid. But after reading about the Raid on the forums and how horrible it was (and how it really wasn't worth the time), I just didn't bother doing it at all. Yes, I know I'll miss out on the Core Hound mount, but I don't really care about that. I really don't like huge mounts that block people from doing stuff anyway.

I think they could have made the 10th Anniversary much cooler. Hopefully the 20th Anniversary stuff will be much better :)

Cheers.

My 2nd level 100!!

Hi,

Yep, and here she is:

Draeny at 100

Draeny made it to 100. She got close in Spires of Arak, and then finished off the last bit to get to 100. She then quested a bit more in Nagrand to get Latressor the Blade follower for the mine, and upgraded the garrison to level 3 (ouch - 5000 gold). But she's been soloing Firelands, Bastion of Twi, ICC, and Tournament of Champs to make quite a bit of that back.

Talking about gold, I decided to consolidate most of my account gold on Flaying. Any gold over 10K on each character was sent to Flaying. After soloing Raids and other stuff, and buying Heirlooms for a new Hunter (more of that later), she's sitting at just less than 130K gold.

So, what about this new Hunter? Well, remember that I got the Hunter heirlooms off DMF the last time round. I decided it was time for a new Hunter:

Trapbrit
She will be getting a barn, all in good time, so I decided to call her Trapbrit. It wouldn't allow Trapperbrit for some reason. Maybe because it's got 'rapper' in it?

Trap made it to through the starting area, and then went to Stormwind City. She's now questing in Elwyn Forest and is level 9.

Other than that, I leveled Bambood to 92 for another mine, and also started getting Gnomey leveled to be my next 100. She made it to 97.

Of course, I carried on doing all my Profession stuff. Boomy has moved on to Darkmoon Cards now, but I'm really having 2nd thoughts about that, because why would I want a craftable Trinket? A lot of the crafters have moved on to the item upgrades, but I'm having real trouble with the amount of Savage Blood I can get. Even with all the Primal Spirits rolling in, it doesn't make enough for all the upgrades I need.

Along those lines, I switched out Flaying's Lumber Mill for a Barn. I thought she might be able to trap Elites to get more Savage Blood, but buy, I was in for a shock. She really can't get Elites down to 50% without dying - yuck.

I'm really going to have to decide (maybe use a speadsheet) which crafted pieces every character is going to have, how many upgrades are needed, and then plan accordingly. At the moment, I'm thinking of a Weapon, Chest, and Shoulder/Legs for each character. Although Blizzy got a Neck and Ring instead of Chest/Shoulder so that at least she's got something to make upgrades for.

That's about it. Oh, I did do LFR (both Wings) on Flaying also. Again, pretty easy.

Alliance (Brits United) on Draenor:

Flayingbrit (100) - Human/Priest (Herbalism 700/Alchemy 700) - iLvl 636
Draenybrit (100) - Draenei/Shaman (Mining 700/Blacksmithing 700)
- iLvl 602
Gnomeybrit (97) - Gnome/Priest (Tailoring 697/Enchanting 642)
Flictionbrit (92) - Gnome/Warlock (Mining 700/Engineering 715)
Fengsuibrit (93) - Pandaren/Hunter (Skinning 665/Leatherworking 665)
Blizzybrit (93) - Draenei/Mage (Mining 700/Jewelcrafting 710)
Boomybrit (96) - Night Elf/Druid (Herbalism 700/Inscription 692)

Unstablebrit (96) - Human/Warlock (Herbalim 688/Skinning 687)
Pallybrit (92) - Human/Paladin (Blacksmithing 183/Tailoring 635)
Bamboodbrit (91) - Pandaren/Priest (Herbalism 637/Alchemy 625)
Priestybrit (55) - Draenei/Priest (None)

Raidbrit (10) - Doesn't matter (2nd account)

Alliance (Brits United) on Echo Isles:
Shaolinbrit (91) - Pandaren/Monk (Mining 594/Jewelcrafting 600)
Slealthybrit (90) - Pandaren/Rogue (Skinning 600/Leatherworking 600)
Smashbrit (12) - Pandaren/Warrior (None)
Frostybrit (68) - Draenei/Death Knight (None)
Trapbrit (9) - Draenei/Hunter (None)

Horde (Britannia) on Ghostlands:

Priestybrit (43) - Undead/Priest (Tailoring 176/Enchanting 196)
Elfybrit (3) - Blood Elf/Priest (None)
Shammybrit (14) - Orc/Shaman (Mining 21/Herbalism 25)

Achievements are up to 5945 this week. The last two being Salt and Pepper (25 player)(from the twin Valks) and Trial of the Crusade (25 player) for soloing Tournament of Champions 25-player.

The plan for next week is to get Gnomey to 100, and probably go back to leveling Priesty, and Trap, and Frosty in the mornings. I'm sure I'll level a few others here and there, and continue soloing old Raids to bring in the gold.

Opinion Time: No Flying in Draenor

OK, time to take this on. I'm neither heavily in favor of No Flying, or heavily against it. I can see the attraction, especially for PvP servers. And I don't think they can have No Flying on PvP and allow it on PVE, so it's all or nothing for both types of servers.

Here's the issue I have with No Flying though. The terrain is set up so it's sometimes a real pain to get around without flying. One would have thought they'd have more forgiving terrain if it was designed without flight in mind. So, I would like Flying in Draenor. I think it would maybe bring people out of their garrisons more. I can imagine flying out of my garrison to where the Apexis Daily is, and maybe stopping on the way to pick some herbs, or trap some animals or something. That is, instead of going AFK while the flight is in progress.

So, I'm for bringing flight back, but I'm not going to bust a blood vessel about it.

Cheers.

It's all about the Gold....

Hi,

Sing it with me.

It's all about the Gold, 'bout the Gold, no trouble :)

That's right, with the announcement of stuff that they're looking to do in 2015 came the awesome news that they're considering allowing players to buy game tokens and trade them in the game for Gold. That means that it would be possible for people to finance their play time with in game gold (just like you can in Wildstar).

So, which that news, I immediately switched into make gold mode. I started using the AH again, and spent a lot of time here:

Auction House
I'm selling a lot of stuff. All the Ore and Herbs I don't need for the daily crafting stuff, and other things I've been getting out in the world, like Embersilk and Frostweave Cloth.

Well, I've been soloing old Raids and Dungeons. I started with ICC, and then moved on to Firelands, Dragon Soul, and Bastion of Twilight. I then did Grim Batol, Lost City, and Halls of Orig Heroics. Then I hit up the Well of Eternity Heroics. Then I went back and did 25 man ICC. I should go an do Firelands and Dragon Soul 25 man too :)

So, I'm raking in the gold now. I've gone (on Flaying) from just less than 50K last week, to over 63K now.

Other than that, I was leveling Draeny and got her to 98. I would have got her to 100 if the gold news wouldn't have broken like it did :) I also leveled Blizzy a bit. I want her to get the level 2 JC Emporium to assign a follower and get the gold quest. I also leveled Bambood to 91. Looking to get her to 92 for the next mine. BTW: I'm targeting all the gold making follower missions first now, also :)

I played Priesty only a bit, just getting her to 55. Oh, and I played the Horde Priesty too late in the evening, getting her to 43.

Achievements have shot up to 5740 this week, due to all the soloing of of the old Raids and stuff. The last two were Heroic: Well of Eternity, and Heroic: Hour of Twilight:

5740
The plan for next week is to keep making gold. Flaying will continue to do old Raids, and old Heroics and put up tons of stuff on the AH. I do think I may get Draeny to 100 next week, as I need another 100 to solo old stuff :) I will probably also look to level Blizzy and Bambood a bit more.

Before Opinion Time, I'd just like to take a moment to say something.

The will be the last Blog post before Christmas. So, Merry Christmas to all of you who read my blog. I hope the Holidays are very kind to you, and yours, and I hope you have a good time over the next week.

Opinion Time: Buying Game Time for Gold

There have been a storm of posts about this over on the main forums. Most have been in favor of it, but there are some that even say they're quitting over this. In case you haven't seen it at all. Here's a link:

I see this a incredibly positive news all round.

It's a win for players who buy the token from the store (let's say for $20), because they'll get a good chuck of gold for their $20.

It's a win for players who trade their gold for the token (like me :)), because they'll get Game time for gold.

It's a win for Blizzard, because they get $20 for it.

In other words, it's a Win/Win/Win.

The only valid concern I've seen is that there'll be inflation because gold stashed away by people will now be used to buy tokens, and they be used in the economy again. I say - So what? If there's a bit of inflation, it won't be the end of the world, and 50% of the players will be better off, because they will be doing the selling, not the buying.

Cheers.
